Preventing Muscle Loss Over the Age of 50

As we age, our muscle strength decreases, with the sharpest decline occurring after the age of 50. Strength loss is related to the loss of muscle mass (the amount of muscle we have) which is due to a decrease in type I (endurance) and type II (quick movement) muscle fibers.

Not many stretches of highway are memorable but Alberta Provincial Highway 93, stretching 230 kilometers from Jasper to Banff, is one that does. The road passes through Banff and Jasper National Park, crosses the Continental Divide and along side three massive glaciers.
